SCHOEPS CUT 1 Low-Cut filter, Nickel (Plated) finish, Use with all CMC- amplifiers and MK- capsules, NOS Mint Condition, 90-Day Warranty

(1) Available

The CUT 1 is inserted between the capsule and the microphone amplifier. It has two functions:

First, it keeps infrasound interference away from downstream devices. Pressure gradient receivers (directional microphones), in particular, deliver very high infrasound signal levels when exposed to wind disturbances, which can saturate transformer inputs or amplifier stages, for example, before the audible noise component causes clipping. To prevent this, a permanently active, steep-edged infrasound filter cuts frequencies below 60 Hz.

Second, the user can use an additional filter to adjust the frequency response in the lower range as desired, e.g., to compensate for proximity effect and improve speech intelligibility in reverberant rooms. A recessed potentiometer is used for this purpose, allowing the frequency response to be adjusted according to the curves shown between 70 Hz (CUT 1) and 600 Hz. The filter slope is 6 dB/octave.
